Ingredients

Scale
  • 250 g all-purpose flour
  • 30 g sugar
  • 1 tsp instant yeast
  • 120 ml warm milk
  • 1 egg
  • 100 g cream cheese
  • 1 apple, peeled and diced
  • 40 g unsalted butter, softened for dough; plus 1 tbsp for apple filling
  • Brown sugar and cinnamon for flavoring
  • Powdered sugar and milk for glaze

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. In another bowl, whisk warm milk, egg, and softened butter together. Gradually mix into the dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth (5-7 minutes). Place in a greased bowl to rise for 30-45 minutes.
  3. For the cheesecake filling, beat cream cheese with sugar and vanilla until smooth; set aside.
  4. In a pan over medium heat, melt butter and sauté diced apples with brown sugar and cinnamon until tender.
  5. Prepare crumble topping by mixing flour and sugar; cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  6. Roll out risen dough into a rectangle; spread cheesecake filling followed by apple filling. Roll tightly into a log and cut into equal pieces.
  7. Place buns on baking sheets; sprinkle with crumble topping and let rise again for 20–30 minutes before baking at 180°C (350°F) for 20–25 minutes.
  8. Drizzle warm buns with glaze made from powdered sugar mixed with milk.
