  • 1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons sugar (divided)
  • 3 tablespoons cold butter
  • 2 tablespoons buttermilk
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a heavy-bottom saucepan, combine cherries, water, cornstarch mixture, and sugar over medium heat until thickened.
  3. Add lemon juice to taste and keep warm.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and sugar. Cut in butter until crumbly.
  5. Mix egg and buttermilk in a separate bowl; combine with dry ingredients until just mixed.
