  1. Prepare the pâte sucrée by mixing flour and powdered sugar in a bowl. Add cold butter until crumbly, then incorporate egg and salt until dough forms. Chill for 30 minutes.
  2. For the compote, melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add chopped apples and sugar, cooking until softened (about 10 minutes).
  3. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Roll out the chilled dough to fit your tart pan and trim edges. Spread apple compote evenly over the base.
  4. Arrange thinly sliced apples on top of the compote, brush with melted butter.
  5. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown.
