  • 2 tsp black tea leaves (or 2 tea bags)
  • 1½ cups water
  • 1 cup coconut milk (full-fat or light)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 34 whole cardamom pods, slightly crushed
  • 1-inch piece of fresh ginger, sliced
  • 23 whole cloves
  • 12 tbsp coconut sugar (optional, adjust to taste)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring 1½ cups of water to a boil.
  2. Add the cinnamon stick, crushed cardamom pods, sliced ginger, and cloves. Simmer for about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the black tea leaves or tea bags and steep for 3–5 minutes based on your preferred strength.
  4. Add the coconut milk and simmer on low heat for another 2–3 minutes to blend flavors.
  5. Sweeten with coconut sugar to taste.
  6. Strain into cups using a fine mesh sieve, and garnish with ground cinnamon if desired.
