  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter or ghee
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream or coconut milk
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional, balances acidity)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ¼ cup chopped cilantro (for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (for finishing)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken by combining Greek yogurt, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, and spices in a bowl. Add the chicken pieces and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In a skillet, heat oil and butter over medium heat. Sauté onions until golden brown, then add garlic and ginger.
  3. Stir in the remaining spices; cook until fragrant. Add marinated chicken and cook until browned.
  4. Mix in tomato paste and crushed tomatoes; simmer for 10 minutes.
