  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 8 tbsp unsalted butter (divided)
  • 1/4 cup boiling water
  • 1 1/2 cups toasted and coarsely chopped pecans
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine white sugar, brown sugar, and evaporated milk. Stir until dissolved.
  3. Insert a candy thermometer; cook the mixture until it reaches 240°F (soft ball stage), stirring occasionally.
  4. Remove from heat and add cubes of butter without stirring; let sit for one minute.
  5. Stir in vanilla extract and toasted pecans until well combined.
  6. Quickly drop spoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheet before the mixture hardens.
  7. Allow pralines to set at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
