Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups diced banana peppers
  • 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 lb ground turkey or chicken
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 3/4 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded parmesan cheese
  • 8 oz cream cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat. Sauté the banana peppers, green pepper, and onion until soft (5-7 minutes).
  2. Add the ground turkey or chicken and cook until browned, breaking apart as it cooks. Stir in minced garlic towards the end.
  3. Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat; stir in evaporated milk, cream cheese cubes, salt, black pepper, basil, oregano, and thyme until blended.
  4. Add uncooked orzo pasta and cook according to package instructions (about 9-10 minutes) until tender.
  5. Taste for seasoning adjustments. Serve warm, garnished with additional parmesan if desired.
